What was the weather like on the ancient Silk Road(Not currently please).?

I am doing a project on the weather (and no I cannot change the subject that I'm doing) and I can't find anything at all on this subject.

I'm tried wiki, google, and here so if you could help that would be awesome.|||The eastern part of the Silk Road was desert so people used camels and travelled in caravans; weather dangers would be sandstorms and mirages.

The western part of the Silk Road was mountainous with high peaks and harsh weather. People traveled by yak instead of camel.

The area of the Silk Route that went along the northern Tien Shan is the most active seismic region in Eurasia, and archeologists have noted that from 800 to 1500 AD, entire cities were destroyed along the Silk Route.

The areas of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan were so rugged and subject to severe winter weather that you could only cross the high passes in the summer months.
